L'antica Via Orvietana. Collegamento tra Perugia e Orvieto attraverso il territorio di Marsciano

The text contains the reports of four people presented during a conference held in Spina (Perugia), on the 26th May 20002.
The conference was introduced by Giampaolo Faloia.
Mrs Marisa Scarpignato explains the archaeological discoveries made in the territories which are crossed by the via Orvietana.
Professor Maria Grazia Nico Ottaviani identifies three maps of the road, based on archival documentation and she places them in the context of events which concerned the Municipality of Marsciano and the relationship of its territory with the nearby and dominant city of Perugia during the medieval period.
Professor Renato Covino points out the administrative modifications that were introduced, firstly in the Papal State and subsequently in the Unitarian State and which both contributed to the progressive decline of the via Orvietana in the regional road system. These modifications join with a series of socio-economic changes which led to the redefinition of the hierarchical relations between the various villages of the territory.
